Iron Bell Bakery specializes in comfort baked-goods - the best versions of sweets and desserts from our collective home kitchens. While others may prize presentation over flavor, at Iron Bell Bakery, we believe in the beauty of rustic simplicity. Our pies and pastries are always handmade from scratch, in order to bring you a product that is both hearty and delicious.
Iron Bell Bakery is - in a way - an homage to my grandmothers. One, a life-long Chicagoan descended from eastern European immigrants, the other, a tobacco-farmer's daughter from the Appalachian foothills of Kentucky; in my youth, my grandmothers both ensured I was well-fed with kolache and banana pudding, respectively. The bakery is even named for the old-fashioned cast iron bells both women would use to call their husbands to supper. And it is my honor to carry on their tradition by sharing some of my favorite recipes with you.
